Why We Started Jingo Pets
Jingo Pets didn’t start as a business idea. It started because of our own dogs and a genuine obsession with pet nutrition.
I got my first dog, Marley, in 2013 when I was 15 years old. She went onto a raw diet not long after, and from that point on feeding and nutrition became more than just feeding a dog — it became a hobby, a passion and something I was genuinely interested in. Looking back now, it probably shaped the direction of my entire future.
Over the years I spent a huge amount of time learning about raw feeding, ingredients, nutrition and how different foods affect dogs differently. I helped a lot of people switch their dogs to raw and saw first-hand the improvements better food could make — better skin, better coats, better energy, better digestion and generally healthier dogs.
For a long time, I truly believed raw feeding was the answer for every dog.
Then we got Jingo.
The Dog That Changed Everything
When we got our Border Collie, Jace — who we call Jingo — of course he went straight onto raw from a puppy. But he was always itchy, had flare ups and never seemed completely comfortable in his skin.
This is the part that really changed everything for me.
I had helped loads of people improve their dogs through diet changes, elimination diets and feeding advice, and it worked for them. But with my own dog, no matter what I did, something was never quite right.
So I went deeper.
Over the next five years, I tried everything properly and methodically. Every diet change or protein change lasted a minimum of around six weeks, because real changes in skin, digestion and immune response don’t happen overnight. Feeding trials take time, patience and consistency.
I tried:
- Proper elimination diets
- Single proteins
- Cooling proteins
- Different fat levels
- Different suppliers
- Holistic support
- Looking at full body health
Cooling proteins like duck, turkey, rabbit and fish worked best for him, but he still always had this low-level irritation that never completely cleared.
Eventually I decided to take him off raw and try something different, and the change was massive.
That experience made me realise something even more important than I had originally thought.
Not Every Dog Suits The Same Diet
Even when we’re feeding naturally, there isn’t one single diet that suits every dog.
It’s easy to think raw is best, or cooked is best, or dry is best, but the truth is that what really matters is:
- Ingredients
- Processing
- Protein quality
- Fat levels
- Additives
- Balance
- The individual dog in front of you
That completely changed how I looked at feeding.
Why Jingo Pets Exists
Jingo Pets exists because I wanted to build a place where people could buy proper pet food with proper ingredients, but also get real advice from someone who has actually been through all of this personally.
Not everyone wants to feed raw.
Not everyone has freezer space.
Not everyone has the same budget.
Not every dog suits the same diet.
So instead of pushing one type of feeding, Jingo Pets is built around one idea:
Feed better food, whatever that looks like for you.
That’s why we sell:
- Raw dog food
- Gently cooked dog food
- Cold pressed dog food
- Natural treats
- Natural supplements
- Functional extras like bone broth and oils
We don’t just stock whatever sells best.
If we wouldn’t feed it to our own pets, we don’t sell it.
What Makes Jingo Pets Different
We’re not a big corporate pet shop. We pack orders ourselves, do local deliveries ourselves, and talk to customers every day about their dogs, their allergies, their budgets and what might work best for them.
We genuinely care about animal health and nutrition and we spend a lot of time researching ingredients and helping customers choose the right food.
We’re not here to sell the most expensive food. We’re here to help people feed their pets better.
Better ingredients. Less processing. Feed the dog in front of you.
